People.com reports that the long time hollywood coupling of Cowboys QB Tony Romo and recording artist Jessica Simpson may have come to an end.

Tony Romo broke up with Jessica Simpson on Thursday, the night before her 29th birthday, a source close to the pop star tells PEOPLE.

“She is heartbroken,” says the source. “She loves Tony. But it’s been difficult lately. He’s busy with his career and she’s getting ready to shoot her show (The Price of Beauty). They decided to part ways.”

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback fueled breakup rumors when he showed up with about 14 friends at the Hollywood hotspot MyHouse on Friday night without the birthday girl, a source tells PEOPLE.

“He had quite a few girls stop by his dance floor table,” says an onlooker. “Romo was sipping Grey Goose and having a fun time with the boys.”

Simpson’s rep had no comment. Romo’s rep could not be reached for comment.

Simpson had planned to throw a Barbie and Ken-themed party for her birthday, but it fell through, according to a message she wrote on her Twitter page Saturday. “Barbie party didn’t happen, but I turned 29 and feel like I am on top of the world yelling I LOVE GETTING OLDER!” she wrote.

On Saturday night, Romo spoke to a group of well-heeled sports memorabilia collectors at the Los Angeles Sports Museum of Los Angeles. He “blushed” when a woman asked about his relationship with Jessica Simpson, according to the L.A. Daily News.

The source close to Simpson is sad that the longtime couple broke up. “They were good together for along time,” says the source. “But I guess it wasn’t meant to be.”

Although Simpson’s heart might be broken, she seems to remain hopeful about love. On Sunday, she Tweeted, “Everyone needs to know that hope floats … grab the strings and pull it back to you.” Three hours later, she wrote, “Falling asleep with my mom and the dogs. Please lord give all of my beautiful fans, friends, enemies, and family rest. Bring all of us peace.”

Wow and we actually were really starting to like these two as a couple…oh well.

Season 6 of “Entourage” premieres on HBO Sunday night, and the cast came out for the premiere in LA Thursday night.

A $25,000, solid bronze, 14-karat gold plated, custom casket has been ordered for Michael Jackson. The casket — ordered last night from Batesville Casket Company — is called a Promethean and will feature a flame blue velvet interior and a hand-polished, mirror finish.

This is the same casket used to bury James Brown.. and is extremely rare.

On Tuesday, July 7th a motorcade will go from Forest Lawn Mortuary in L.A. to the Staples Center complex in downtown Los Angeles where the public memorial will be held.

New York Post reports that EARLY salary figures from Simon Cowell’s “American Idol” contract negotiations are leaking out and they’re eye-popping.

Cowell, who reportedly made $36 million last year for judging the hit competition show, has been offered three or four times that amount — between $100 million and $144 million per year — by co-producers Fox and 19 Entertainment to stick with “Idol” when his contract expires next May, according to The Guardian, a London newpaper.

Fox declined yesterday to comment about the salary negotiations.

While $36 million may seem like a lot of money for five months worth of snarky comments and eye-rolls, it’s only a fraction of the estimated $900 million that “Idol” rakes in a year. As the lynchpin of the show — without him there would be no one to hate and no dramatic tension with Paula Abdul — Cowell believes he’s due for a raise.

To get more of the pie, he’s been leaning on long-time friend and UK retail multibillionaire Sir Philip Green — who owns hot fashion franchise Top Shop — for help negotiating the terms of what would be a new “Idol” contract, reports say. Green is said to be lobbying hard for an increase in Cowell’s appearance fee on the show.

The tragedy of Michael Jackson’s death at age 50, reportedly from cardiac arrest, pales in comparison to the tragedy of his life. To understand all that Jackson had and lost requires wiping away three decades of plastic surgeries that deformed him, erratic behavior that made his name synonymous with the warping powers of fame, and a 2005 trial for sexually abusing a child that, even though he was spared of any finding of wrongdoing, made him a pariah to all but the most brainwashed of fans. But if you can forgive or forget all that, underneath was one of the most talented entertainers of the 20th century. Quincy Jones, who produced Jackson’s quintessential solo albums, was devastated by the news of his passing. “I’ve lost my little brother today,” Jones said in a statement. “Part of my soul has gone with him.” Added Jones: “Divinity brought our souls together … and allowed us to do what we were able to throughout the ’80s. Entertainer Michael Jackson has died after being taken to a hospital on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest, according to multiple reports including the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press.

Jackson, 50, had been in a coma at the hospital according to sources.

Brian Oxman, a Jackson family attorney, said he was told by brother Randy Jackson that Michael Jackson collapsed at his home in west Los Angeles Thursday morning.

Family members were told of the situation and were either at the hospital or en route, Oxman said.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda told CNN a 911 call came in from a west Los Angeles residence at 12:21 p.m.

Ruda said Jackson was treated and transferred to the UCLA Medical Center.

Asked specifics of the patient’s condition, he said he could not discuss them because of federal privacy laws.

The music icon from Gary, Indiana, is known as the “King of Pop.”

Jackson is the seventh of nine children in a well-known musical family.

At the medical center, every entrance to the emergency room was blocked by security guards. Even hospital staffers were not permitted to enter. A few people stood inside the waiting area, some of them crying.

Ed McMahon has died at age 86. His agent Howard Bragman told an NBC affiliate he died shortly after midnight in California…

*UPDATE*:Chris Brown has copped a plea in his assault case. He won’t do jail time, but he will spend 6 months doing things like road cleanup. He’s also been ordered to stay 50 yards clear of Rihanna.

He’ll spend 180 days doing hard labor in Virginia which is where Brown lives – it’s equivalent to Caltrans or graffiti cleanup.

He gets 5 years probation for FELONY assault — he pled guilty. He’ll get supervised probation. He’ll have to come back to court every three months.

He must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.

The judge said she wanted to make sure that Chris Brown “was treated as any other person who comes through this court.”

If Brown violates probation, he could get up to 4 years in prison.

Rihanna is in the courthouse but never entered the courtroom.

Chris Brown just walked into the court in downtown Los Angeles, through a sea of media and law enforcement.

Officially, his preliminary hearing is set to begin at 1:30 PT and Rihanna is supposed to testify. But Brown’s lawyer was in chambers this AM with the prosecutor and the judge. We’re hearing they may announce a deal when the case is called.

Hugh Hefner has been blessed with three new very gorgeous blonde beauties — two of which are twins. “Kendra is going to be a good mommy, she’s growing up and Hank is going to be a very good influence on her. They are an ideal couple,” Hef said. “I’m sure the baby will end up at the Mansion. We do have (lots of little bunnies). We have a lot of friends and second generation Playmates, so there are a lot of kids around the Mansion these days.”

Denzel Washington talked about his trip to the inauguration and the idea he could play Obama in a biopic while on “The Late Show” Thursday night.

After Dave Letterman held up a photo of Denzel sitting alone in a sea of empty chairs the day of the inauguration, the actor explained how his wife mistakenly told him they had to be there at 7 am. Worse, when he got there in the freezing cold, his family’s seats were far from the action.

Fortunately with his hours of extra time, he climbed barriers and skipped ahead to snag a better view of the ceremony.

And while Denzel had heard his named has been bandied about for a possible Obama movie, it seemed the president may prefer Will Smith because of his more prominent ears.

Poor Miss California USA… and let me first remind you that Miss USA is not the same as the Miss America pageant. Miss USA doesn’t have a talent competition, and focuses more on swimsuits. Well the Trump run Miss USA pageant has been the focus of media attention ever since Prejean’s controversial answer to Perez Hilton’s question on same-sex marriage.

Perez Hilton: Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same sex marriage, do u think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?

Carrie Prejean: Well I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose, same sex marriage, or opposite marriage. You know what? In my country, and in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to any body out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be, between a man and a woman.

Live on Sunday night prime time, Prejean instantly became the face against gay marriage. Most believe her answer, cost her the crown, but regardless, she became an instant media sensation. Right wing groups leeched onto her as she did a tour of morning talk shows and late night guest appearances.

Desperate to stay in the limelight, new scandals popped up about how the pageant princess was gifted with a new pair of knockers six weeks before competing in the Miss USA competition. Naturally, semi nude photos of the beauty queen were leaked, and finally Trump himself had to step in and endorse her as still the reigning Miss California USA despite the controversy.

Apparently, the love is gone for Carrie Prejean, as she was fired yesterday.

“I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so,” Trump said in a statement. “Unfortunately it just doesn’t look like it is going to happen.”

“This was a decision based solely on contract violations, including Ms. Prejean’s unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization,” the California pageant’s executive director, Keith Lewis, said in a statement.

Lewis had complained at a news conference last month that Prejean was skipping Miss California USA events while speaking out against gay marriage at unsanctioned appearances.

Disgusted by the entire situation, Lewis’ co-executive director, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler resigned in protest.

“The Taking of Pelham 123,” starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta, is slated to hit theatres nationwide Friday, but we have some amazing still shots from the action packed film. These new images from Tony Scott’s upcoming remake, show  Denzel Washington as a regular, behind the desk NYC dispatcher who must attempt to thwart John Travolta’s hostage-taking gang in the subway. LOS ANGELES — To reprise his role as Sam in “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” Shia LaBeouf played with pain – and paid with flesh.

The gouges on his back, the cuts on his knee and the stitches on his eyelid were all on-set battle wounds, the price of filming the anticipated follow-up to the 2007 summer blockbuster. But it was the broken hand, crushed in an off-set accident during production, that forced the screenwriters to react.

He’s willing to reveal a few plot points including how wrecking his pickup truck last July diverted the “Transformers” story though he does it as if playing a game of Taboo.

“He hurts his hand in the middle of a human transfer,” LaBeouf explains cryptically. “Sorry this is so mysterious. There’s just certain words I can’t say.”

“Revenge of the Fallen” begins with LaBeouf‘s character, Sam Witwicky, heading off to college to distance himself from his shape-shifting robot friends. Sam’s beloved Camaro, which transforms into Bumblebee, sits in the garage “sort of like his (parole officer), his guardian,” LaBeouf said during a recent interview.

While at school, Sam starts seeing symbols through “epileptic seizure-type fits of information transfer,” LaBeouf said. “He just becomes a factual volcano.” The symbols form a map to an energy source the robots need to control sentient beings, LaBeouf said.

The actor becomes visibly excited when talking about “Transformers,” his slight frame buzzing in a button-down shirt and skinny black tie. His left hand is wrapped in gauze, with a splint propping up one finger. “It’s like 11 days out of surgery,” he said, referring to a procedure to remove screws that stabilized his digits after the accident.

LaBeouf was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after the crash, but prosecutors decided there wasn’t enough evidence to charge, and he said all is well now. His hand feels fine, and the splint just provides extra protection his next job a role in “Money Never Sleeps,” Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street” sequel  which begins in August.

“It’s not broken, but it’s newly not-broken,” LaBeouf said.

There were also certain things LaBeouf couldn’t do during production because of that late-night collision in West Hollywood: In a movie all about robots that disguise themselves as cars, LaBeouf couldn’t drive  not legally anyway, since his refusal to submit to a breathalyzer resulted in a temporary license suspension.

“I was in some hot water making this movie,” he said. “At 22, you’re always in hot water.”

But LaBeouf was able to perform many of his own stunts  including “some death-defying (stuff)”  in the effects-heavy flick.

“There’s far more stunts this time,” he said. “Aside from the fact that I was making the whole movie with a broken hand, my knee has stitches, my eye had stitches, my back was gouged.”

During one scene, LaBeouf said he “literally stabbed myself in the eye” and had to be treated at a military hospital. Though credit may be due for toughness, it’s LaBeouf’s natural warmth that makes him perfect to play Sam, the film’s screenwriters say.

“What you see on screen is very much what you get with Shia,” said Alex Kurtzman, co-writer of both “Transformers” films. “He’s incredibly open.”

That openness is key to Sam’s ability to connect with alien robots, the writer continues: “He’s very unjaded and he has an open heart, and I think that’s what (the Autobots) see in the character that allows them to feel they can communicate with him and share their secrets.”

“It turns into a plot reason as well,” adds co-writer Roberto Orci. “In the first one he’s the keeper of the map, and in the second one, he in a way has become the map.”

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” opens June 24.
